While I may not agree with the message this portrays, this artist is very bold for posting this. People seem almost unreasonably prejudice towards individuals, to the point that it just seems like they're simply just trying to be mean. This piece doesn't represent the wrath or hatred that churches have historically expressed. I don't see why a single individual should be condemned for an entire organizations current and historical faults. Yeah, there's a lot of horrible hypocrites in the church but those sort of people are every where. The reason the religious ones are more recognized is because of the power they have to abuse with a corrupt bias. Besides, whatever happened to the motos,"do to others and you wish upon yourself" and "two wrongs don't make a single right?"
Graphically this is a good piece. It is legible and the message is clear. I'm studying as a graphic artist personally and I've come to the conclusion that about half of every possiblity will be unacceptable as they will be irrelevant or misunderstood. The kerning is even enough though it doesn't look to me like you altered that at all. Maybe giving the word Jesus a tad more room both above and below and in between the individual letters is the only suggestion I have for improving this piece but frankly that's a personal opinion not a standard rule.
The reason I gave this piece only three stars for originality is that this is a common analogy that I see every time a youth group promotes Jesus. However, I also gave you five stars for impact because of the obvious reaction in the comments. While the reaction is partially a problem with association, this is the artist's piece and therefore his effort to place it here. The technique is simple, which is good for logos and taglines. I don't feel it's a five star technique is because of some seemingly missed minor details like the kerning. Lastly, it's hard to say whether there was vision or not, mostly because it's very easy to go into any manipulation program and make something like this within 30 minutes if you know what you're doing. The reason I rated this with a three and a half is because I know how tedious the pen tool can be - if that's what was used to make the brush and paint dish (and potentially a few other details).
I hope this feed back is of use.
This is what the world needs. You disagree with the statement but you recognize that simply saying the word Jesus doesn't make them a hate monger. So many people think they are being fair when they rant at someone for putting up a picture about Jesus and don't see how they are contradicting themselves.
The art is actually awesome
I like this review for it appears to be the author's genuinely honest opinion about this picture and it doesn't devolve into hate speech that I see all over the place dA when religion, morality, or politics is brought up. Kudos!!
Thanks for the feedback Have an awesome blessed day
